Therapy Over the Net
Neatly tucked away in Cyberspace streams an internet radio show
with a conscious and heart for people. Street Masters, hosted by Butch Jamieson
, Lee Manley, Sherina Jamieson and powered by IM4RadioDC.com, conveys a very clear
vision and purpose: helping people tackle addiction and the recovery process,
through education.
On Saturday mornings, Butch and Lee broadcast live at 10:00 AM –
12:00 PM EST, from a quaint studio in Largo, MD. Lemon colored walls, covered
from floor to ceiling with autographed photos, posters and album covers, gives
the space an upbeat therapeutic ambiance. And when the clock strikes ten,
Butch’s rich raspy vocals open the show and you feel like you’ve known him
forever. Then his self-proclaimed side-kick, Lee, adds his smooth calculated
vocals to the mix, and you know for a fact that you’ll be connected to the
internet for the next two hours. The duo has mastered the art of balance – Butch
brings the energy while Lee drives the train forward.
In addition to creating dialogue about addiction, Butch and Lee
also use the show as a platform to address societal problems like fatherless,
among others. Since both Butch and Lee are counselors, their experience and
expertise channel topics in a direction that sparks discussion and reflection.
And as a result, listeners from around the world call-in to the show to talk
about their own personal problems and experiences.
Street Masters is leading a movement; one of hope, change, and
new beginnings. Their motto: people helping people.

Get the video. The thing that caught my attention was the
young man who said young men with fathers act all prissy. If you look at
it through there eyes he is really telling the truth as he views it. Young
men with fathers (Good Fathers) don't raise their children with a thug
mentality, their children usually learn about manhood by modeling their
father and not some knuckle head on the street. So the producer of this
film was correct when he said "The man that he sees is the man he will
be". So, in actuality the young boys on the street are fathered by the
older thugs on the street. Which just mean we need men to step in the gap
and model for these young men what a real man really is. |

This video boldly confronts what is accepted as fact about
today's black man - and demonstrates how much of what we think is true, is
myth. Scene after scene shows us what the black community says about it's
self and how that just doesn't square with the facts: prison, HIV, inter
racial marriage, alimony payments, etc. In one scene, the camera shows us
over and over...

Pregnant with her first
child, all Patrice wanted was to have an unmedicated vaginal birth.
However, the medical personnel at the hospital had other plans. After
experiencing some of the very interventions she wanted to avoid, Patrice
vowed that as long as she could help it, she would never give birth in a
hospital again.
In her book, Empowered to Birth Naturally: One Woman's Journey to
Homebirth, Patrice gives details about her 3 birth experiences,
from hospital to birth center and finally, homebirth. Readers are left
with an education of sorts as they learn why and how Patrice became
Empowered To Birth Naturally. |
